When Europe’s leading Home entertainment company Creative Productivity were asked by musical worship band Hillsong Church to produce the CD packaging for their latest album Creative found themselves with a familiar problem. 

Ian Browning Managing Director from Creative explains “The customer wanted the CD booklet to feel the same throughout with the cover and the text pages printed on the same stock, however, they also wanted a mirror like finish on the cover and back page.   I contacted Steve Livesey at MetalPaper as they had previously laminated some metpol to my own sheets of board and I felt they may be able to help”

Mirror Card is produced by laminating a high clarity 12 micron metpol film to the coated side of a smooth card such as a cast coated card or board.  The smoothness of the coated surface gives the finished product a highly reflective Mirror like finish.

The solution for Creative was to supply stock sheets of 250gsm LumiSilk a woodfree quality paper with offers a smooth, multi-coated silk surface. This paper also offers outstanding quality in demanding image printing.

MetalPaper then applied a high clarity bright silver metpol to one side on their Steinemman Lotus laminating machine.  170gsm Lumisilk was also selected for the text pages.  The complete booklet was them printed on Creative’s Heidelberg SM74 press, using conventional litho inks (non U.V).
