Print finishing specialists Frip Finishing are keen to shake off their foil blocker image and show the print trade the complete range of decorative print finishes they offer.

Leslie Gibson Director of Frip finishing commented “We seem to have foil blocking and embossing customers who don’t know that we offer lamination and varnishing and at the same time lamination and varnishing customers who don’t know that we do foil blocking.  It was time to show the market our full range of services”. 

Frip have launched an initial 10 sheet pack to showcase sculpted foil, high build U.V varnish, Foil Blocking & Emboss, Spot U.V Varnish, Suspended glitter varnish, textured foil, emboss & deboss, gloss lamination, soft touch lamination & scuff resistant lamination in A5 postcard format which are presented in a foil blocked and embossed brushed aluminium metpol laminated folder from the newest addition to the Frip group of companies MetalPaper ltd.

Speciality Finishing Company FRIP Finishing are working alongside Sakurai Graphic Systems Corporation to help them showcase the abilities of the Sakurai Meastro 102 All Screen Press at IPEX 2010.

Sakuria wanted to demonstrate to visitors the variety of available finishes which can be achieved on the press.

Smooth running at IPEX was critical for Sakurai so they approached Frip Finishing for their assistance.

David Ryan of Sakurai commented, “We were well aware of the capabilities of U.V varnish such as suspending glitter within the varnish or the use of phosphorescent or scented varnishes but we had no experience of running these processes on the Maestro press.  We approached John Burns from Frip Finishing and he was able to offer us valuable technical guidance, production support and most importantly an experienced operator to run the machine at show”.

Frip finishing have launched a scuff resistant alternative to conventional Matt OPP lamination. 

Ideally suited to applications which are subjected to aggressive handling this innovative new laminate adds value and extends the product life of items such as menus, catalogue covers, book jackets etc.

Shaun Morris, Sales Director of Frip Finishing based in Hinckley commented “We were introduced to this new film by MetalPaper ltd who are using it in their metallic laminates range.  We ran some trials and were so pleased with the result we decided to launch it”. He added “Because Frip finishers offer foiling and die cutting alongside laminating and varnishing we often receive work which is to undergo a number of processes, the scuff resistance reduces wastage and delivers a better looking end result.  In use the laminates can be handled without showing the marking that is so common with matt opp.”
